5 of the coolest places to travel this summer!

By FreshSocial 01 Jul 2018

After a hectic academic year, we're sure that you are in desperate need of a break.

If like us, you're getting pretty bored of everyone's pictures in Amsterdam, Reykjavik and Budapest, then it's time to find some new places to jet off to, but where will that be?

We've found some of the coolest places to travel to this summer and some of them are still slightly under the radar...

1. Riga, Latvia
Riga is such a peaceful place to be, so if you're in need of escapism from the hustle and bustle, this is exactly where you need to go. You can wander through the cobbled streets and nip into coffee shops or even sit in a sunny square. It's the type of place that tourists haven't discovered yet, meaning there are more locals to make it feel more authentic and it's also a bit more affordable.

2. Nafplion, Greece
If you're wanting to go to a place that is relaxing, has plenty to explore and full of culture then this has your name all over it. Nafplion is a pretty and romantic town making it the perfect Greek adventure with your partner. When the weather is at its best (June to September) it will be busy with locals from Athens, which will only add to the authenticity of your trip.

3. Belgrade, Serbia
You might have heard of Belgrade before because of Exit Festival, the big music festival there. Besides that, it's a pretty cool place to go for lots of reasons; the food, the boat parties, the quirky boutiques and the fact that it's just an overall fun and exciting place to be. If you want to let your hair down and really enjoy yourself, Serbia's capital city is where to be this summer.

4. Porto, Portugal
You've heard about Lisbon (and seen pictures all over social media) but what do you know about Porto? It has the same things to offer, but it's just a bit quieter and less hectic, it's even slightly more affordable too. Porto is super laid back so you can stroll along the port or through the city, but also experience the amazing nightlife - the authentic Portuguese nightlife is so much fun!

5. Warsaw, Poland
Holidays aren't always about sitting in the sun with a cocktail in hand, sometimes you just want to explore culture and history. Warsaw is perfect for that. Find out about this cute and bright city's history at museums (especially Neon Museum). If you're a foodie, there are loads of places to indulge in traditional food and quirky bars to go to for some evening fun.
