Deals, discounts & offers galore!

By FreshSocial 01 Mar 2018

It's coming to that point in the term that we're a bit too familiar with...

It isn't the best feeling when your bank balance starts getting lower because you feel like you have to start eating rubbish, cheap meals and can't afford a social life. But what if we told you that there is a way you can still do all things you want?

There are some discount sites and organisations that might not even be on your radar:

If you enjoy eating out...
With a Taste Card, you can get 50% off your bill or 2-for-1 on meals in a huge selection of big restaurants - think Pizza Express, Prezzo, Zizzi, Chiqitos and many more. If you've got a student bank account with RBS or Natwest, you will have automatically received one of these.

Live in/near Leeds or have some friends there? Check Pink Gorilla for offers on restaurants in the area. This includes 2-for-1 on main meals, set menus with prosecco at a reduced price or exclusive menus only accessible through PG. They change quite regularly so check it often!

If you enjoy days/nights out...
For those of you who love films, become a Picturehouse member. You can get discounted cinema tickets (or free ones!) all over London and other areas of the UK and will be the amongst the first to watch the films. With a student membership, you get 25% off food and drink so you don't have to worry about expensive popcorn and you can go on cinema dates all year round...

Surely you have seen the Compare the Meerkat adverts by now? Well, if you buy ANY insurance through their website, you get 2-for-1 cinema tickets every Tuesday and Wednesday for a year through Meerkat Movies. FYI - their insurance starts at just £1.50!

If you enjoy travelling...
Have you heard of the ISIC Card? It's the International Student Identity Card and offers discounts in 130 countries. You can get discounts on flights, hotels/hostels and retailers all over the world. It only costs £12 a year so definitely worth it considering how much you'll save!

Red Spotted Hanky is a website that exclusively has cheaper rail tickets than other websites, plus they don't include any cheeky debit card fees and you earn loyalty points that you can redeem for future travel. Book your train home for Easter sooner rather than later...

If you enjoy your retail therapy...
There are plenty of online clothes shopping sites that give you a discount (UNiDAYS, Save The Student and NUS) but have you heard of Easy Fundraising? If you register, all you need to do is select a charity you want to help and a donation will be made from your shopping at no extra cost. It's a win, win really!

Don't feel like you have to sit in your room because you're low on cash. You might have left it a bit late this term but get a budget sorted next term and you'll be able to afford some of these treats!
